The man who died at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility (CNSCF) yesterday has been identified as 23-year-old Clayton Daniel Cromwell of Halifax.

At 9:06 a.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to the CNSCF after correctional officers found Mr. Cromwell unconscious and unresponsive in his cell. Medical treatment was attempted and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Forensic officers and the Medical Examiner’s officer attended the scene and an autopsy was conducted yesterday. Although the cause of death has not been determined and further tests are required, foul play is not suspected at this time.

The incident remains under investigation by the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit.
