An official announcement has confirmed that the royal couple would visit P.E.I. on Victoria Day this year as Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, plan a trip to Canada. The official dates of the tour revealed on Friday confirm that the royal couple will be in P.E.I. on May 19 and 20, i.e. including Victoria Day.

In a press statement issued by Premier Robert Ghiz, it was highlighted that the province is pleased to be able to host the royal couple and be included in their tour this year as P.E.I. celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference. Ghiz stated that “the royal tour is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the history, natural beauty, vibrant culture and people of our province.” During their tour, the royal couple has planned to visit Charlottetown, Bonshaw and Cornwall. They will have public interaction at several occasions, including Charlottetown’s Victoria Day celebrations and fireworks.

The trip dates released on Friday reveal that their stop in P.E.I. will fall between stops in Nova Scotia and Manitoba. While announcing the tour dates and inviting Canadians to join the royal couple, Canadian Heritage Minister, Shelly Glover, mentioned that “the 2014 Royal Tour of their royal highnesses will not only highlight Canada’s achievements and our shared heritage, but will also look to the future of Canada and how we will continue together to build a country that is the envy of the world.”
