Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the sexual assault of a female at 2100 White Oak about 7:45 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 10).

The suspect, Leonell Antonio Murillo (H/m, DOB: 4-4-91), is charged with aggravated sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping in the 176th State District Court.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. C. Padilla and Officer R. L. Bolton reported:

The victim, 43, was walking in the park when Murillo, who was on a bike, approached her. Murillo jumped off the bike, grabbed the female and forced her into the bushes and trees. He told the victim he had a knife and would kill her if she screamed. Murillo then sexually assaulted the female and afterward, forced her to call her family and demand money for her release.

HPD patrol officers, as well as homicide investigators, were dispatched to the location and as they searched the park area, the victim ran out of the trees and brush screaming for help. Officers searched the area for Murillo but he managed to flee the scene on foot.

Further investigation developed information on a person of interest later identified as Murillo. Murillo was asked to come in to talk to investigators about the incident and he subsequently confessed to his involvement in the case.
