On Tuesday the 25th of August 2014 at about 4:00 p.m. Chatham-Kent Police responded to a Chatham address after a parent had accessed their child’s facebook account. The parents found that a man was sending inappropriate messages and wanted to meet with the child. Police were able to identify the 27 year old Blenheim male who was arrested and held for a bail hearing. The investigation is still ongoing.
The suspect faces a charge of Luring a child contrary to section 172.1(1)(b) of the criminal code.
Parents are reminded to be vigilant with their children’s internet usage, especially regarding social media.
