On October 27th, 2010, CBSA officers at the Vancouver CBSA Mail Centre in British Columbia intercepted several parcels destined for a LaSalle, Ontario residence. The parcels, which originated from China, were examined and found to contain several prohibited weapons. As a result, the CBSA and RCMP initiated a joint investigation.
It is alleged that a 48 year old male resident of LaSalle, Ontario took possession of the parcel and was subsequently arrested. Several prohibited weapons were seized including 21 Astun guns@, 10 canisters of Apepper spray@ and five sets of Abrass knuckles@. The 48 year old male is facing charged of Importing Prohibited Weapons and Possession of Prohibited Weapons as well as a variety of Customs Act charges. The Weapons have been seized and the accused will appear in court on December 7th, 2010 to answer to the charges.
