Hamidreza Safar-Zadeh-Markhali charged with weapon and drug offences in Pickering

An alert patrol officer observed a suspicious motorist in Pickering earlier this week and further investigation resulted in a loaded handgun being seized from the driver.

On Wednesday November 3, 2010 at approximately 2:30 p.m. a West Division officer on routine patrol observed a male driver smoking a marihuana cigarette, while operating his vehicle, in the intersection of Kingston Road and Valley Farm Road in Pickering. The officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the lone occupant for drug possession. Incident to his arrest, the accused was searched and within a fanny pack slung around the chest of the accused, the officer located a loaded handgun. The officer seized the weapon and further charged the accused.

Hamidreza SAFAR-ZADEH-MARKHALI, age 28 of Finch Avenue in Pickering is charged with: Possession of a Controlled Substance and six firearms-related charges. The accused also received a provincial offence notice ticket for driving while suspended.
