It is alleged that:
– the accused was arrested on outstanding warrants and upon arrest was in possession of three replica handguns.
It is further alleged that:
– on Friday, November 5, 2010, police executed a search warrant at a storage facility in the Greensboro Drive/Kipling Avenue area.
– police seized 13 long guns, 22 handguns, three Prohibited Devices and 5,581 rounds of ammunition.
It is also alleged that:
– on Saturday, November 6, 2010, police executed a search warrant at a home in Richmond Hill.
– police seized two handguns and 181 rounds of ammunition,
The investigation into the seized firearms was assisted by the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team, Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit and Durham Regional Police Service.
The investigation revealed that all the firearms recovered by police were stolen in Durham Region between Tuesday, October 26, 2010 and Wednesday, October 27, 2010, Six handguns reported stolen are outstanding.
Eric Reid, 35, of Richmond Hill, has been charged with:
– a total of 260 firearm-related charges, including Acquire Firearm without F.A.C., Firearm careless storage, Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, Trafficking in firearms, Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device and Possession of firearm obtained by the commission of an offence.
He is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at 10 a.m.
