Ottawa police has confirmed to be currently investigating three possible shootings across the nation’s capital after a gunman shot a soldier dead at the National War Memorial before turning his attention to Parliament itself. According to a sources cited by The Canadian Press, the House of Commons sergeant-at-arms, Kevin Vickers, was also shot as the assailant moved inside a Parliament building.

Several MPs have also confirmed to have witnessed a gunman being killed inside Parliament, however that information has not yet been confirmed by the police. A reporter collected footage shows police opening fire within the Hall of Honour. Meanwhile, Hamilton-area NDP MPP, Paul Miller, has confirmed that the soldier shot at the War Memorial this morning is a reservist with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. In addition to that, there have also been confirmation of multiple shooters aligning at the Rideau Centre mall, though little information has been confirmed about that incident.

Liberal Senate staffer, Stuart Barnable, confirmed to have witnessed the whole shooting from his office on the East Block of parliament. He alleged that “the guy pulled up outside the war memorial, jumped out of his car, got out with a rifle and shot at the guys who guard the War Memorial. He hit one by the look of it. The other (soldier) booted it.” Barnable stated that “he ran back into his car, backed up Wellington and then swerved around and came up and jumped out and ran up towards the House of Commons. He had a long rifle,” adding that “he was running. He ran back into his car and then he ran up the Hill.”
