The RCMP has confirmed that the gunman who shot and killed a soldier before storming Parliament Hill on Wednesday, Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, was found to have prepared a “video recording” prior the attack in Ottawa. According to a statement released on Sunday evening, RCMP stated that “persuasive evidence” has been found to show Zehaf-Bibeau’s attack was “driven by ideological and political motives.”

In addition to that, RCMP explained in the statement that “Zehaf-Bibeau had prepared a video recording of himself just prior to conducting this attack,” adding that “the RCMP is conducting a detailed analysis of the video for evidence and intelligence.” However, the authorities say the video will not be released at the moment. The RCMP alleged that investigators are looking into the gun used in the attack, whereas a knife allegedly carried by Zehaf-Bibeau during the attack was found from his aunt’s property in Mont Tremblant. Furthermore, the RCMP statement alleged to have identified the “source of funds” for Zehaf-Bibeau’s “pre-attack activities.” It was explained that “Zehaf-Bibeau had been employed in the oilfields of Alberta and had saved his money. He had access to a considerable amount of funds. We are investigating all of his disbursements in the period leading up to the attack.”

Meanwhile, an Ontario Provincial Police spokesperson has confirmed that OPP is also leading an independent investigation into the events that occurred in Ottawa Wednesday, when security personnel at Parliament Hill shot and killed Zehaf-Bibeau after he had breached Centre Block.
