Hamilton motorcyclist dies in a fatal traffic accident near Robinson Street

On Monday, November 3rd, 2014 at approximately 6:17 p.m.,  a taxi cabbeing driven by a 52-year- old Hamilton man was travelling eastbound on Robinson Street and was proceeding through the intersection of Bay Street South in the City of Hamilton. A motorcycle travelling at a high rateof speed Northbound on Bay Street South approaching Robinson Street, lost control of his bike and laid it down in an attempt to avoid the cab. The 23-year-old motorcycle rider from Hamilton was separated from his bike and struck the rear passenger side of the cab. Several people came to the aid of the rider and assisted in performing life saving measures until EMS arrived on scene.

The male rider was transported to hospital in serious condition with vital signs absent. The rider succumbed to his injuries in hospital a short time later. The identity of the deceased is not being released at the request of his family.

This is Hamilton’s 13th fatality of 2014.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation. Speed was a factor in this collision.
