Jason Schultz arrested for arson in Windsor

Windsor Police have charged a 34 year old Windsor man after it was determined that a residence in the 900 block of Victoria Ave. was broken into and a fire was deliberately set inside.

At 12:40 a.m. on Friday, November 12, 2010, uniformed officers responded to a report of a break and enter in progress in the 900 block of Victoria Ave. Upon arrival, officers observed smoke billowing out of several windows located on the second storey of the house. Officers approaching the rear of the house observed that the glass on the rear door had been smashed out and also noticed fresh pry marks on the door frame. Officers recognized the immediate danger and entered the house to evacuate anyone who may have been inside. Officers made their way through the smoke to the second level of the residence and were able to determine that nobody was inside. The ensuing investigation revealed that the homeowners were out of town at the time of the fire. Windsor Fire attended and were able to extinguish the blaze. Total damage to the residence is estimated to be approximately $150,000.

Investigators at the scene received information that the suspect responsible for the arson was residing at an address in the 900 block of Pelissier St. across the rear alley from the burned house. Officers attended this apartment and arrested the suspect for the break in and arson. A subsequent search of the suspect’s apartment revealed numerous items of property belonging to the owners of the burned residence. Officers also located a cell phone and DVD player which had been stolen during a break and enter to another residence in the 1100 block of Victoria Ave. during the early morning hours on Tuesday November 9, 2010.

Jason SCHULTZ – 34 years of Windsor is charged with one count of Arson Endangering Human Life, two counts of Break And Enter, and two counts of Possession Of Stolen Property Not Exceeding $5000. He has been remanded into custody.
