Charles Richard James Harvey charged with assaulting a police officer in Winnipeg

On November 14th, 2010 at approximately 10:15 p.m., patrolling Uniform Members located a suspicious parked vehicle and occupants in a parking lot in the 1200 block of Salter Street.

Officers attended to this vehicle and observed the occupants to be consuming alcohol. All occupants were removed from the vehicle. While placing a 20 year old male into the rear of the cruiser car, the suspect male allegedly kicked the door, striking a 49 year old male Police Officer in the upper body.

Further, while at the police station the same male threaten to harm officers and then proceeded to assault a second male Police Officer.

As a result of the assaults, the 49 year old officer was treated in hospital for an upper injury and released. The second male officer suffered minor injuries to his lower body that did not require medical attention.

Charles Richard James HARVEY, 20 years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences:

– Aggravated Assault of Peace Officer
– Assault Peace Officer (x2)
– Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
– Breach of Probation
– Fail to comply with condition recognizance (x2)
– Liquor Control Act- Have open liquor in Motor Vehicle Collision

HARVEYhas been detained in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
