On Thursday, December 3, 2010, Peel Police received an unsigned letter alleging that a fraud had taken place during the most recent municipal elections in Mississauga. The letter advised that the electoral process had been intentionally compromised and that the election results were inaccurate.
Investigators from the Fraud Bureau were assigned to look into the allegations and have concluded that the electoral process was not compromised and that no criminal offence that took place during the elections. The elections were conducted within the parameters as set out in the Municipal Elections Act.
The author of the letter alleging the misconduct identified him/herself only as “Fred”. He/she has yet to come forward and speak to police. Investigators are urging the author to step up and identify him/herself.
