Maple Ridge, B.C. – Ridge Meadows RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating 44 year old Michael Dennis Mercier. Police were notified just after 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday January 18, 2011 of Mercier being missing, and there is a fear he may be wanting to harm himself.

Inspector Derren Lench said, “We feel that Mr. Mercier drove out to the Harrison Hot Springs, or Chilliwack area, but we have not been able to make contact, or find the exact location.

Our concern is for his personal well being, and he is not felt to be a danger to the public. However, we do warn he may have access to a firearm, and strongly caution citizens to not approach him, but to notify the local police agency where he is spotted in right away. We’re continuing to liaise with different police agencies, and RCMP detachments to try and locate Mr. Mercier.”

Mercier is described as a white male, 44 years old, 5’06" (168 cm) tall, and weighs 138 pounds (63 kgs). He has brown hair and blue eyes, but it is unknown what he is wearing. He is reported to be driving his green 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup truck, which has British Columbia licence plate# BN1857 on it.

UPDATE: Michael Dennis Mercier has been located.
