A 48-year-old North York man has been sentenced following his conviction for sexual interference in relation to a 2007 incident involving a seven-year-old girl in the City of Vaughan.
On Friday, January 28, 2011, The Honourable Justice Anne-Marie Hourigan of the Ontario Court of Justice, sentenced Edgardo MEJIA to four months in jail in addition to the 54 days of pre-trial custody he already served. Mr. MEJIA was also placed on probation for three years and ordered to provide a mandatory DNA sample. He was originally found guilty on Wednesday, November 3, 2010.
On Saturday, July 14, 2007, Mr. MEJIA approached the victim in the pool area of a hotel, located in the area of Highway 7 and Highway 400. He engaged the victim in conversation and then inappropriately touched her. Mr. MEJIA was arrested and charged shortly following the incident.
