Canada basketballCanada Basketball will be hosting China Senior Women’s National Team (SWNT) for three friendly games against the Canadian SWNT in Langley, Richmond and Abbotsford, May 16-18.

These games are important in the preparation for Canada’s SWNT as they head to the FIBA World Olympics Qualifying Tournament for Women in Turkey, June 25 – July 1 where they will be competing for one of the final five berths into the 2012 London Olympic Summer Games. China’s SWNT has already qualified for the London 2012 Olympic Summer Games as the 2011 FIBA Asia Champions. Canada’s SWNT is currently ranked 11th in the world while China is ranked 7th. 

Canada’s SWNT will meet for the first training camp of the season, prior to these exhibition games under the guidance of Coach Allison McNeil. The first game against China will be 40 days before the start of the final Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Turkey. Playing on home soil will be a great motivator for the players and the entire team is looking forward to preforming for their home fans.
