The Toronto Raptors announced Friday their 10-man roster for the 2012 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. First-round draft pick Terrence Ross and second-round selection Quincy Acy will join Raptor Ed Davis on this year’s squad.
Ross was selected eighth overall by Toronto in last month’s NBA Draft and will become the fifth first-round draft pick in team history to participate in the NBA Summer League joining Joey Graham (2005), Andrea Bargnani (2006), DeMar DeRozan (2009) and Davis (2010). Ross was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection as a sophomore at Washington. He averaged 16.4 points and 6.4 rebounds, and ranked among Pac-12 leaders in eight categories including: points (4th), rebounds (6th), three-pointers per game (2.1, 8th) and blocks (0.9, 13th).
Acy completed his senior year at Baylor averaging 12.0 points in 38 games. He also posted 7.4 rebounds along with 1.8 blocks en route to being named to the Big 12 All-Defensive Team (unanimously) and All-Big 12 Second Team by the coaches. Acy is the second player in Bears history to be ranked in the Top 10 in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots and field goal percentage.
Davis returns to the NBA Summer League following a sophomore campaign where he averaged 6.3 points and team-leading 6.6 rebounds in 66 appearances. He was the only Raptor to appear in every game last season. Davis scored a career-best 24 points, adding 12 rebounds, in a career-high 43 minutes during the season finale April 26 vs. New Jersey. Davis averaged 12.6 points and 6.0 rebounds in five NBA Summer League contests in 2010.
The Raptors finished the 2010 NBA Summer League with a perfect 5-0 mark and led the league in scoring. The Raptors enter this year’s event on an eight-game unbeaten streak. Raptors assistant coaches Micah Nori and Eric Hughes will serve as co-coaches. Toronto opens its NBA Summer League schedule today versus Houston beginning at 6 p.m. (ET).
