Oshawa Power Complete Series Sweep Over Montreal Jazz with 131-114 Victory

After a closely contested first half that saw the Oshawa Power trail the Montreal Jazz 56 -55, Durham’s team erupted with a 76 point second half explosion to seal the victory 131-114. Oshawa’s leading scorer was Pickering native, Papa Oppong who finished the night with 29 points and 9 rebounds.

The Power had a balanced scoring attack with six players scoring in double digits and three poured in more than 20 points.  Last week’s Recharge With Milk Player of the Week, Nick Okorie racked up 27 points and Mark Gomillia dropped over 20 points for his second consecutive game with 23.

Montreal was led by Eric Frederick’s 30 points and the newest member to the Jazz, Courtland Bluford chipped in with 28 points of his own.

Oshawa outrebounded the Jazz with a 51-40 advantage on the boards led by Jaushay Rockett who finished with 10 and continues to be one of the top rebounders in the league.

The Power’s win sweep the home and home series and with one more match-up remaining, lead the overall season series six games to one.

Oshawa’s next game will take place on the road when they head to Windsor on Wednesday February 6, 2013 with tip off set for 7:00 p.m.
