The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Tuesday their 28 player roster that will participate in a Rookie Tournament hosted by the Leafs in London, Ontario. The players will compete in three games beginning on Saturday, September 11 versus prospect teams from the Chicago Blackhawks, Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators.

Attending the rookie tournament for the Maple Leafs is forward Nazem Kadri, who was Toronto’s first choice, selected seventh overall, at the 2009 Entry Draft. Other notables on the Leafs rookie tournament roster include defenceman Jesse Blacker, Keith Aulie and Simon Gysbers, and newly signed goaltenders Jussi Rynnas and Ben Scrivens.

In addition, five 2010 draft picks will bolster the Leafs roster at the rookie tournament: Bradley Ross (43rd overall), Greg McKegg (62nd overall), Sondre Olden (79th overall), Sam Carrick (144th overall) and Josh Nicholls (182nd overall).

Toronto Marlies head coach Dallas Eakins will oversee the club along with his assistant coaches Gord Dineen and Derek King.

  1. Why oh WHY does MLSE never put this on television for all their loyal fans???? I would absolutely love to get this as part of the CENTER ICE package. it may very well be one of the most exciting games to see and it seems to be un-televised!!!
