Tiger Woods has been seen as a favorite and paired with Jim Furyk in the U.S. Open's final tee time at 6:05 p.m. EDT for Saturday's third round at the Olympic Club (Lake Course), in San Francisco, Calif.

After the second day, Tiger Woods grabbed the advantage, lost it, and then wrestled back into a share of the lead after the second round. Three Americans are tied for the lead at 1-under par, the only three golfers in fact to break par through the first two rounds. Woods fired an even par 70 to join veterans and fellow major winners Jim Furyk (69) and David Toms (70) at one under 139, two clear of John Peterson (70), Nicolas Colsaerts (69), Graeme McDowell (72) and Michael Thompson (75), who share fourth. Tiger is looking forward to achieve his first major championship since 2008.

One of the healthy competitors that Tiger has a tied lead, is the 42-year-old Furyk. His championship mettle cannot be ignored due to his consistency. He triumphed at the 2003 U.S. Open at Olympia Fields, when he drove the golf ball beautifully and was steady on the greens all week. He has reliably performed in his first two rounds at Olympic Club. The 16-time tour winner owns the poise and experience to not easily succumb to the perils of a demanding U.S. Open venue.

Toms is another capable veteran, who's won 13-times on the PGA Tour during his underrated but respectable career. He goes for the hunt at majors. He surprisingly had not more success at U.S. Open's in the past. He's carefully scrambled around Olympic Club through the first two rounds, firing the same scores as Woods. Through improving off the tees, Tom can give tough time to the lead sharers on Sunday.

The 32-year-old from Northern Ireland, McDowell has defeated Woods head-to-head during the past, and faced off with him in the final group of the Arnold Palmer Invitational this year, but have lost to Tiger. He is a U.S. Open champion and has the length, iron play and a putter that can get extremely hot to claim this championship.
