Wednesday play start with raining, marking the second straight day. Play continued inside, but it simply wasn't the same as the specialty of Wimbledon is its grass courts that set the event apart from any other Grand Slam. Indoor games do not provide the same atmosphere, and hopefully the weather remains fine for the rest of the event.

Six-time Wimbledon winner Roger Federer stormed into the third round of Wimbledon 2012 with a 6-1, 6-3, 6-2 victory over the Italian Fabio Fognini.

Like his first match, Novak Djokovic won his second match in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 against 20-year old American Ryan Harrsion to ease into the third round of Wimbledon to meet the winner of Benjamin Becker and Radek Stepanek.

No. 12 Nicolas Almagro beat 22-year old Guillaume Rufin in a tough 4-setter 6-2, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 to advance the third round.

The women's side was a bit more scripted in the first round, as on Day 3 with No. 5 Samantha Stosur lost to Arantxa Rus 6-2, 0-6, 6-4, in three sets making Stosur the first highly-ranked woman to lose.

Day 3 contained another upset as 22-year old Tamira Paszek ousted former World No. 1 and No.7 Caroline Wozniaki of Denmark 7-5, 6-7, 4-6 in a closely contested match.

No. 3 Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland breezed into the 3rd Round dispatching Elena Vesnina 6-2, 6-1 who had beaten Venus Wiilliams in the first round.

Former World No.1 Kim Clijsters entered the third round of Wimbledon 2012 defeating Andrea Hlavackova of Czech Republic 6-3, 6-3.

Li Na's Grand Slam slump worsened as she tumbled out of the Wimbledon second round on Wednesday with a 6-3, 6-4 defeat to unseeded Romanian Sorana Cirstea.

Maria Sharapova had saved five set points in the first set and led Tsvetana Pironkova, 7-6 (3), 3-1, when their match was postponed due to darkness. They will be back on court Thursday.

Other matches worthy to be watched on Thursday include:

1)      Sam Querrey of the United States (unseeded) vs. Milos Raonic of Canada (21).

2)      Ana Ivanovic of Serbia (14) vs. Kateryna Bondarenko of Ukraine (unseeded).

3)      Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria (unseeded) vs. Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus (unseeded).
