Australia and England will face each other in the 5th and the final ODI match of NatWest series, played at Old Trafford, Manchester, today, July 10, 2012. English team would be in the skies after achieving a big milestone of snatching an important series from the Aussies. While the deflated Australian team would be looking to restore some pride to save themselves from being white washed.
England have been versatile throughout the whole tournament which proves to be a reason of their strength. England chased the target in the 4th ODI with ease and have proven its ability. All the English players contributed well except Alastair Cook, who was caught at 29. Bell continued with is superb form, making a handy 69 while Jonathan Trott and Ravi Bopara too helped in the match.
The bowling department has been brilliant; Steven Finn, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad and Ravi Bopara too make an awesome foursome pair of bowling. Having got hat-trick chance twice, Steve Finn will spearhead the bowling ahead of the misery Anderson and Broad. Alastair Cook (capt), Ian Bell, Jonathan Trott, Ravi Bopara, Eoin Morgan, Craig Kieswetter (wk), Tim Bresnan, Chris Woakes, James Tredwell, James Anderson, Steven Finn.
On the other side, the Aussies were inconsistent, failing to gain nay strength in their bowling as well as in batting. Unpredictably, Brett Lee had gone wicket-less in the last ODI, although he bowled 2 overs with an economy of 5.14. David Hussey and Clint McKay, batsman and bowler respectively, shone in dull conditions of the Aussies scoreboard. Clint McKay’s confirmation of two wickets and Hussey’s 70 runs, highest on the Australian scorecard not helpful enough for the Aussies at all.
The tourist team’s coach, Mickey Arthur is amazed at the ease at which the English batters and bowlers have mentally derailed his players – currently ranked as world No.1, adding that something is seriously missing which he is simply unable to figure out. The Australian probable team include: Matthew Wade (wk), Dave Warner, Peter Forrest, Michael Clarke (capt), George Bailey, David Hussey, Steve Smith, Mitchell Johnson, Clint McKay, James Pattinson, Mitchell Starc.
Pitch looks helpful for the pacers and the batting as well. Rain is 50-60% likely to fall but hopefully match will not get spoiled due to weather.
