On Saturday August 4, 2012, USA team will be playing against Russia. The American Volleyball Team won its 11th consecutive Olympic Games match from year 2008 with its upset over top-ranked Brazil Thursday evening to head the Pool B, but on Saturday they needs to compete with world no. 2 at Earls Court.
USA team, ranked fifth in the world and the defending Olympic Games champion, takes a 3-0 record with nine points. The Americans have already qualified for the traverse quarterfinals, but are looking for the top seed in their Pool B with the intention of facing the fourth seed in Pool A.
The Americans are the only undefeated in their pool by winning from Serbia, Germany and Brazil. Team USA has lost just one set during the 2012 Olympic Games, that was a 25-23 loss in the opening set on Thursday. Russia, 2-1 in the group with six points, clutched victories over Germany and Tunisia with a three-set loss to Brazil. Brazil is in third place based on tiebreakers with Russia as both have six points and 2-1 records.
Russian team had a great year in 2011, but has looked off the color in recent competitions. Team USA has playing well throughout the tournament, and has carried out better as each match went along.
