On Thursday September 13th, 2012 stage 5 will be started in Tour of Britain, as Mark Cavendish took his second consecutive stage victory and moved into the overall lead on stage 4 of the Tour of Britain after his Sky team start from Carlisle and finishes in Blackpool.
Stage five is the regular Stoke-Stoke round which has featuring yearly since 2009.
The last two years have observed this stage blow the GC apart with a 20 man group going away around the undulating, windy roads between the Oakamoor KOM and Gun Hill KOM. There’s a new loop near to Cannock Chase; it will not affect the race too much but will provide great countryside. The three Yodel gallops are at Stone, Uttoxeter and Rocester. Uttoxeter is more famous for its racecourse, which at one mile.
Stage 5 has almost a flat with few hills but at Gun Hill track it got windy; the stage starts and finishes in Stoke-on-Trent. At 147km it’s quite short and may be a day for a early mass sprint finish, approximately at afternoon. Stoke-on-Trent is made up of six major towns – Tunstall, Burslem, Hanley, Stoke, Fenton and Longton.
