One of golf’s grandest homes will host the world’s top ladies golf play for this week’s RICOH Women’s British Open. It will be played at Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Merseyside, England from Thursday, September 13 to Sunday, September 16 and Yani Tseng will look to defend her championship. Tseng has won the last two RICOH’s and will look to add a third straight. Undaunted by an up-and-down 2012 season, Yani Tseng says she’s “ready to rock” England’s Royal Liverpool Golf Club.

Established in 1976, this event is the only tournament that serves as a major championship for both the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour. Karrie Webb in 1997 and Karen Stupples in 2004 have the tournament-record score of -19.

However, Yani Tseng won the event with an overall score of -16.  At an age of 22 years, 6 months, 8 days, Tseng became the youngest golfer in history to win five career major titles. Tiger Woods had previously held that distinction, having won his fifth major at 24 years, 7 months.

Day 1 will start with Sophie Gustafson, Lydia Ko, Azahara Munoz, Kaori Ohe, Florentyna Parker, and Lexi Thompson teeing off at 2:00 a.m. ET and end with Rachel L. Bailey, Valentine Derrey, Tania Elosegui, Vicky Hurst, Ilhee Lee, Jin Young Pak at 8:30 a.m. ET. The purse for the event is $2.75 million.
