The fourth quarterfinal of the Champions trophy 2012 will be played between the Australia and England.
England team was ranked 3rd in the Pool A having 4 points on the table. Their performance in the group stage was mediocre and not that impressive as out of three matches, they won one, lost one and ended one in a draw. The World No.4 had to face the opening setback of the tournament by suffering a defeat at the hands of 11th ranked Indian team with 1-3. However they had recovered from that loss soon as in the very next match they had beaten the 1st ranked Germany with 4-1, which is their first ever victory against Germans in the Champions Trophy. Still English team wrapped up the group stage in a draw with 1-1 against 6th ranked New Zealand team. Now they are looking to win the quarterfinal to reach the semis.
On the other hand, World No. 2 Australian team was ranked as 2nd in Pool B just behind Netherlands securing 7 points on their scoreboard. The defending champions and the hosts opened their campaign in an impressive manner by defeating the 8th ranked Belgium with 4-2. Despite playing solidly in their second group match against 3rd ranked Netherlands, the two teams ended in a draw with 0-0. In the final group match of Aussies, they again earned a 1-0 win against 9th ranked Pakistan team. Now Aussies are looking to get into the Semis by defeating the English team with their solid performance.
