In the second round at WTA Qatar Open 2013, World no. 1 Victoria Azarenka perfectly grabbed the victory. The Belarusian is now 11-0 after remaining successful with 6-2 and 6-3 against Romina Oprandi. Azarenka is trying her best to keep her winning pace and retain her world no. 1 ranking. Azarenka went 26-0 in 2012 before losing her first match of the year.

The first impressive game of tournament took place on Wednesday as Klara Zakopalova battled two hours and 41 minutes and saved four match points by making a comeback to defeat No.16 seed Sloane Stephens and move through to the third round of the Premier-level tournament, 4-6, 7- 6(5) and 7-6(5). Zakopalova’s reward for the victory is a third round match-up with No.3 seed Maria Sharapova.

Another top seed among the early winners was No.4 seed Agnieszka Radwanska, who also fought well against Anastasia Rodionova by reeling off five straight games to beat the Australian qualifier with 6-3 and 6-2.

In the double’s clash, Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci continued continued to be dominangt with a routine victory in the second round on Wednesday with a 6-2 and 6-2 in straight sets against Kristina Barrois and Eleni Daniilidou. That put their winning streak at 11 matches including the title victories at the Australian Open and Paris [Indoors], a match in Fed Cup action last weekend and their Doha opener. The WTA’s No.1-ranked team has only had one longer streak in its partnership, having reeled off 25 straight last year, the best win streak by a duo since Gigi Fernández and Natasha Zvereva won 28 matches in a row in 1994.

Other double’s seeds advancing to the quarterfinals stage included second-seeded Nadia Petrova and Katarina Srebotnik and third-seeded Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears.
