On the 4th day of second test match, Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor and persistent light rain on Sunday all together have made sure that this test clash at the Basin Reserve is most likely to end in a damp draw on Monday.
The hosts were on 162 for 2 on a follow on innings after the half of the fourth day’s play get disrupted with rain at intervals. Williamson (55) and Taylor (41) scored an unbroken 81-run stand in New Zealand’s second innings. Earlier they were forced for a follow on when they were only 49 runs short from making England bat again. England’s only breakthrough came in the first session when Peter Fulton pushed James Anderson delivery to Alastair Cook at first slip. With Fulton’s dismissal at 45, New Zealand slipped to 81 for 2 and left the hosts with the possibility of losing the match.
