On the 4th day of the third test match, Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s triple-wicket opening spell maximizes Indian side’s hopes of reclaiming the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Monday after taking a lead of 91 over the tourists.

Earlier, the hosts resumed the day with 283 for 0. Australia have done well with the support of Peter Siddle’s five-wicket haul to keep India to 499. Siddle and Mitchell Starc had bowled well and enjoyed a productive day by collecting all ten Indian wickets for 216 runs. Siddle’s initial success started when Shikhar Dhawan stabbed Nathan Lyon to silly point. Soon afterwards, Cheteshwar Pujara was trapped lbw for 1 to Siddle. India then lost Sachin Tendulkar for 37.

Australia then made a collapse of 4 for 19 in the session in which Starc swung it in sharply to Murali Vijay whose decision to pad up proved his downfall. Afterwards, Dhoni was suckered by a late-swinging low full toss.

Ravindra Jadeja made 8 before nibbling Siddle to Brad Haddin, and Ashwin perished in the same fashion for 4. Kohli and Bhuvneshwar then become successful in putting on 61 for the eigth wicket partnership, before Siddle grabbed two wickets to claim 5 for 71.

Australia’s impressive show with the ball was overshadowed by Bhuvneshwar’s three-wicket haul comprising David Warner, Ed Cowan and Steven Smith’s wickets. Warner got out in edging to MS Dhoni. Afterwards, Bhuvneshwar trapped Cowan lbw. Then Smith had his off stump sent cart-wheeling. However, Hughes reached his first fifty of the series through handling the spin impressively and remained unbeaten 53 at the close of day. Australia is still trailing by 16 runs with seven wickets remaining and hoping Phillip Hughes to score big in this innings.
