On the opening day of 1st test match at Harare, Zimbabwean batsmen made their way after facing an early trouble of losing a couple of opening wickets at 22 and managed to close the day at 217/4.
Bangladesh started brilliantly with a threat. However, they faltered in the field dropping some important catches and need now to step up a gear and pick up early wickets in the morning on Day 2. Taylor’s presence at the crease would be the key for Zimbabwe and they would be looking to cross the 350 mark today. A brilliant century from skipper Brendan Taylor pulled Zimbabwe out of the trouble. Taylor and Waller came to rescue with a crucial 127-run stand. The score is not very big and a couple of early wickets will spoil the hard work done by the hosts.
Bangladesh were excellent earlier and disciplined afterwards. Robiul Islam was the man to pick 2 scalps.. Bangladesh were all over the hosts in the first hour of play but Zimbabwe fought back with determination, along with some help from the tourists through a couple of dropped chances and then that no ball which gave Chigumbura a chance to stay on crease.
