Women’s Doubles defending champions Poon Lok Yan/Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong were undone by smart tactical play from local favourites and second seeds Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi.

Apart from the top two seeds Xu Chen/Ma Jin (1) and Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei (2), Liu Cheng/Bao Yixin achieved a thrilling win over Markis Kido/Pia Zebediah Bernadeth (Indonesia, 7) with 17-21, 21-19 and 21-19.
