Kofi Nahaje Sarkodie -Mensah is a Ghanian-American is a Ghanian American professional wrestler who is currently signed with the WWE.
Kofi goes by his more popular in-name ring Kofi Kingston, Kofi competes in WWE SmackDown and is the current WWE champion.
Kofi along with Big E and Xavier woods is part of the group called New Day, Big E and Xavier are the current WWE SmackDown tag-team champions.
Kofi was born in Kumasi, Ashanti, Ghana on August 14, 1981, he is married to Kori campfield since 2010 and they have 2 children together. Kofi made his debut in June 4, 2006.
Kofi has been a part of the company since 2008 and has always been a fan favourite because of his high flying, action packed wrestling.
Kofi has been a part of some of the best WWE Royal Rumble moments ever, His way of elimination has now become a regular feature of the PPV.
Kofi recently made history by becoming the first African born WWE Champion, although The Rock whois half Samoan and Half black has been a WWE Champion before, Kofi became the first ever full black, African born champion.
Kofi became the WWE champion after he defeated then WWE Champion Daniel Bryan, in Wrestlemania 35.
When asked about the same Kofi said “ It means the world, especially when we talk about representation being so important, For me to be the first ever African born WWE champion is incredible because now, people who look like myself can look at the TV and see on WWE television that anything is possible because I’m doing it”.
Kofi’s winning of the WWE championship was not just a case to show diversity, and it was not based on skin color for sure.
His Championship reign is however a case of a loyal company man, who has been a great competitor for more than a decade and has made his way into the hearts of the WWE Universe.
Before Kofi won the WWE Championship, he always competed for and also won second tier titles like the United States Championship and the Intercontinental Championship. Kofi is also a 9 time World tag team champion.
When Kofi, Big E and Woods formed the new day, it came as a blessing for Kofi, The New day won the tag-team titles 6 times and also hold the record for holding the titles for a record 483 days.
Kofi created two record earlier this year when in February 2019, he became the second man to outlast 3 straight opponents in a Gauntlet Match and then he repeated the same feat in March when he did it again. The only other person to achieve such a feat was the Beast “Brock Lesner”.
Kofi kinsgston achievements make everyone believe that it does not matter where you are from or what color your skin is, the only thing that matters is how determined you are towards achieving your goals, and Kofi becoming the WWE champion shows just that.
