Eddies have dropped two in a row entering Wednesday’s match
Two tough 1-0 losses in a row for FC Edmonton (FCE) has the team searching for its first points of the 2012 season.
It won’t be an easy task however as the Eddies face the first place Puerto Rico Islanders on Wednesday in Bayamon; a notoriously difficult place to play.
FCE has been on the road since April 2 and will have played its first three games of the season away from home. Captain Chris Kooy, who missed Saturday’s game against the Rowdies because of a knee knock he picked up in training; said being on the road to begin the season has its positives and negatives.
“From a team bonding perspective, these past few weeks have done wonders to bring the guys together,†Kooy said. “Now we just have to translate that into points. Hopefully we can start against the Islanders on Wednesday.â€
FCE has looked solid at the back to start the season, having allowed just two goals in two games but the trouble has been scoring goals. The Eddies have yet to find the back of the net, a problem that the captain said he hopes will end on the island.
“Puerto Rico has always been a tough place to play for any visiting team,†Kooy said. “We have to put history behind us and go for the win. Last time we were here we got a point, now we’re hoping for three.â€
