Boston Breakers forward Lianne Sanderson was voted the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Week by the media for Week 7 of the 2013 NWSL season.

Sanderson, 25, assisted on all three goals for the Breakers in a 3-0 victory May 25 over the Washington Spirit, setting up Heather O’Reilly in the 38th minute, Katie Schoepfer in the 53rd and Kyah Simon in the 66th.

The Lewisham, England native leads the NWSL with six assists – three more than any other player in the league. Though she hasn’t scored this season herself, Sanderson has assisted on more than half of Boston’s goals (6 of 11) – including the team’s last four scores.

Sanderson is the third Breakers player to be voted the NWSL Player of the Week after O’Reilly and Sydney Leroux claimed the accolade in Weeks 3 and 4, respectively.

The Boston Breakers will return to action Saturday, June 1 at 7 p.m. ET against Sky Blue FC at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J.

The NWSL Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a selection of journalists that cover the league on a consistent basis.
