Canada’s Para Soccer team lost a heartbreaker to Argentina today, falling 0:1 to the world’s fifth-ranked team at the 5e Copa América de Fútbol 7PC. Canada, whose presenting sponsor is BMO Financial Group, played an inspired match against the tournament host.

The difference in the match was the lone Argentina goal in the 18th minute. Canada now has a record of one win and two losses after three matches, with two more matches to be played on 24 October and 26 October.

Canada had their chances but couldn’t convert them into goals. The team’s best chances came by Jamie Ackinclose, Dustin Hodgson and second half sub Brendon McAdam. Matt Brown turned in an excellent performance making two key saves and distributing the ball well.

For this match, coach Ferguson’s starting XI featured Brown (goalkeeper), Chris Duehrsen, John Phillips, captain Dustin Hodgson, Jamie Ackinclose, Geoff Wakefield and CP5 Jeremy Baird. Canada’s two substitutions were Brendon McAdam (for Wakefield in the 40th minute) and Vito Proietti (for Ackinclose in the 46th minute). Canada played in red while Argentina played in white.

Canada’s next meets Brazil on 24 October and the Canucks play their final match on 26 October against Mexico.
