Quirky Romantic Thriller Private Eyes, Performed by a Blind Cast

Promenade Playhouse (Santa Monica, CA)

CRE Outreach’s Theatre by the Blind puts a unique spin on Steven Dietz’s Private Eyes, a quirky comedy-drama about jealousy and revenge that examines truth, reality and marital fidelity. Two married actors find their relationship tested when the wife becomes involved in an affair with the director of the play they’re in. Is the affair real, or perhaps part of the play being rehearsed — a play within a play — or maybe something imagined by one of the characters? The audience steps into the role of detective as art imitates life. Or does it? Directed by Greg Shane, CRE’s production is performed by an entirely blind cast.
