Location: Duplex Parkette
Join us on a fun group bike ride along the Yonge Street corridor. Bells on Yonge is organized by TCU22 as one of North Toronto’s largest Bike Month events. At 1:00 P.M., June 2, 2012, cyclists of all ages will assemble at the east end of Duplex Parkette, just south of Lawrence Ave. Councillor Stintz and others will address participants prior to 1:30, when we depart on our ride. Our route will take us south along pleasant side streets to Oriole Park, where Councillor Matlow will address riders. We will not see much of Yonge itself until we reach Rosedale, and its luxury automobile traffic. After crossing Bloor St., we will converge with Bells on Bloor/ Danforth riders at Queen’s Park, where the Cycle and Soul rally for active transportation is being held at 3:00 P.M. This will be a relaxed ride, suitable for casual cyclists of all ages. One of our goals is eventually to establish a safe bikeway parallel to Yonge that connects North Toronto with the downtown core. Bikers may opt to join the ride midway when we make stops at Eglinton Park (North Toronto Community Centre), Oriole Park and the Rosehill Reservoir.
