Fundraising dinner features famed musician and humanitarian Shehzad Roy

The IDRF (International Development and Relief Foundation) in Partnership with Zindagi Relief Foundation Inc. is pleased to announce a special reception and dinner to increase awareness of an innovative education project, supported by Canadians, for young women in Pakistan.

Shehzad Roy, famed Pakistani musician, philanthropist and humanitarian will be appearing to promote the education project established through his charity Zindagi Trust. Zindagi Trust provides education to underprivileged children involved in child labor in Pakistan. The education project will be implemented in partnership with IDRF (International Development & Relief Foundation) a registered Canadian humanitarian organization, based in Toronto, Ontario. 

Roy, from Karachi, Pakistan and five hit albums to his credit, is President and Founder of Zindagi Trust. In June 2004, he was honored as one of the youngest ever recipient of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, one of the highest Civil Honors awarded in Pakistan for excellence in serving humanity. He was also selected to be a torch bearer for the 2008 Olympic Torch relay as the pride of Pakistan.

"We are heartened, but not surprised, by the interest of Canadians in this innovative educational project,’ says Winston Kassim, CM, Chair of IDRF."It is through their generosity that IDRF and Zindagi Trust will be able to provide proper education to poor and disadvantaged Pakistani children, particularly girls, many of whom face grave challenges in accessing quality education”.

The event is being organized by Khalid Usman FCA, and Dr. Abida Usman, Chair of Zindagi Relief Fund Inc.; both members of the IDRF Advisory Council.

The dinner event will be attended by over 500, including a number of dignitaries, politicians from various levels of government, the Consul General of Pakistan, and Ontario business and community leaders.
