Egyptian Theatre (Hollywood, CA)
See popular 1950s and ’60s actor and crooner Pat Boone in person at American Cinematheque’s 50th Anniversary screening of State Fair. Boone starred in CinemanScope’s 1962 musical along with Ann-Margaret, who portrayed a beautiful singer at the fair and a potential love interest for Boone’s hometown-boy character, Wayne. The film was based on the popular Rodgers & Hammerstein stage musical and contains such infectious songs as “Our State Fair,” and “It Might as Well Be Spring.” Before the screening, Boone and author Richard Kibbey will sign copies of Pat Boone – The Hollywood Years; afterward, Boone will talk about the film and his career.
