Art Theatre of Long Beach (Long Beach, CA)
In conjunction with the Long Beach Opera’s production of Michael Nyman’s The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, join UCLA Psychiatrist Dr. Kenneth B. Wells for an exploration of visual agnosia. An inability of the brain to recognize or understand visual stimulus, visual agnosia prevents an individual from being able to interpret what they are seeing. Dr. Wells will delve into the fascinating details of this phenomenon with The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat cast members Suzan Hanson, Robin Buck and John Duykers providing excerpts from the script. Dr. Wells is a composer himself and his combined scientific expertise and passion for opera will provide a unique insight into the human mind and the upcoming performances.
