The award-winning Pacific Resident Theatre company opens its 26th season with Sweet Thursday. This world premiere stage adaptation of the 1954 John Steinbeck novel (and sequel to Cannery Row) transports us back to Monterey’s Cannery Row, circa 1947. There, a sunny, surprising and timeless romantic comedy unfolds in this enchanting post-war story. Featuring live music, the show tackles one of Nobel Prize-winner Steinbeck’s greatest themes: that love and humanity make goodness and happiness possible. Broadway, TV and feature film actor-director Matt McKenzie (Gods and Monsters, Mad Men, 24) directs.
