Sister My Sister: Mythic Figures Come Alive Through Performance
Highways Performance Space and Gallery (Santa Monica, CA)

Performance artists Marcus Pontello and West Seegmiller re-create Narcissus and Echo, two powerful figures of Greek myth, by embodying the duo on stage. Instead of looking inward when searching for themselves, the gender-ambiguous pair peer at each other, in a fragmented narrative that features elaborate soundscapes, costumes, makeup and mirroring to depict a world of delusion and narcissism. The performance runs as part of Highways’ summer-long Behold! Queer Performance Series. Pontello is known for his innovative costume and fashion design, while Seegmiller designs body-conscious prosthetic makeup.
