Set in the 1860s, Lady Patriot goes inside the life of the wife of Confederate President Jefferson Davis. Pregnant and having just moved to the capital in Richmond, the long-suffering Varina is tended to by her new friend Elizabeth and her slave, Mary Bowser, while somehow, vital information begins to fall into Union hands. Writer-director Ted Lange, best known for his role as bartender Isaac on The Love Boat, based this work on a true story. An accomplished theater artist, Lange has written more than 20 plays, many with a historical bent.
