Pasadena Symphony Performs Tchaikovsky’s 4th

Edwin Outwater leads the Pasadena Symphony as they perform Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony at Ambassador Auditorium. “There is still happiness, simple, naïve happiness,” said Tchaikovsky of his breakthrough work, in which he took a bounding creative leap in scale, intensity and ambition that combined theatrical flair with emotional contrasts of epic proportions. Rachmaninoff International Award-winning pianist Rueibin Chen will also perform his talisman, Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, one of the world’s most irresistible melodies made forever recognizable by the movie Somewhere in Time. Huang Li’s Spring Festival Overture rounds out the program.
