There’s something about the majesty of space that fascinates us all. Composers have long sought to evoke that sense of wonder through music, and the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra will be playing some of the best examples of that work. Accompanied by spectacular photos from NASA telescopes, To Boldly Go will include selections from Star Wars, Holst’s The Planets, Star Trek, E.T. and more. The orchestra will be led by Sarah Hicks, one of the leading ladies in a new wave of female conductors. Her versatile and vibrant musicianship has secured her place as a sought-after conductor. Currently with the Minnesota Orchestra, Hicks has conducted extensively both in the U.S. and abroad, including concerts at the Hollywood Bowl and a European tour with Sting.
