John Cameron Mitchell’s outrageous musical comedy Hedwig and the Angry Inch follows a young East German man who discovers that the only way to escape communism and come to America is to give up — surgically — a little part of himself. Hedwig’s story is presented as a rock concert/stand-up comedy gig in which the charismatic singer takes the audience on an emotional roller coaster ride through the funny, touching, painful and ultimately inspiring experience of being Hedwig. The fantastic rock score has been winning fans and acclaim since the musical first debuted a decade ago. This production stars Donovan Leitch, singer of the rock and roll supergroup Camp Freddy, reprising his role as Hedwig. A portion of the proceeds from the show will benefit The Trevor Project, a national organization for crisis intervention and suicide prevention among LGBT youth.
