Horton Foote, one of the most-awarded playwrights of stage and screen, has added to his life-long observation of the people of Harrison Texas with two new plays. Foote Notes features two one-act shorts that take place on the same day, 50 years apart. A Young Lady of Property tells the tale of a young girl who dreams of a more exciting life away from home but finds she must fight to save the very place she longs to leave. Land of the Astronauts looks at a woman who must save her husband and pull the family together after his dreams fall apart. Both plays touch on the theme of what people do after their dreams fall apart under pressures of everyday life. Foote’s gentle stories tell of the lives, loves, hope and dreams of everyday people living everyday lives.
