The Visceral Company presents the Los Angeles premiere of Southern Gothic Novel: The Aberdeen, Mississippi Sex-Slave Incident, a New York Drama Desk Award-nominated solo show conceived, written and performed by stage veteran Frank Blocker (Stabilized Not Controlled, Suite Atlanta). Southern Gothic Novel is a comedic recounting of a series of tragic events that beset Aberdeen, Mississippi, a small Southern town experiencing a streak of mysterious kidnappings. Blocker portrays a staggering 17 characters during the course of the hour-long play, from Aberdeen’s young womenfolk, to the FBI hot on the kidnapper’s trail and the reporters descending like locusts upon the tiny town. Throughout the show, the multitalented performer uses pantomime to convey scenery and action, including an epic knock-down, drag-out brawl among several characters.
