There has long been debate about the true origins of Shakespeare’s plays. Did he write all of them himself? Was he even a real guy? But one thing is certain: somebody made ’em all up. And that’s what The Improvised Shakespeare Company does. They make up a brand-new play in the style of Shakespeare. The only difference is, they do it live, right there on stage. Based on audience suggestions, The Improvised Shakespeare Co. creates a fully improvised play in Elizabethan style. Each of the players has brushed up on his “thee’s” and “thou’s” to present an evening of off-the-cuff comedy using the language and themes of Shakespeare.
