The Barnum Hall Theater (Santa Monica, CA)

Conductor Boris Brott guides the New West Symphony through Beethoven’s Eroica, while special guest soloist Rachel Barton Pine takes on Tchaikovsky’s Concerto in D Major, with its many opportunities for violin virtuosity. Chicago-native Pine is an acclaimed composer, recording artist and violinist who at 17, became the youngest musician and the first America ever to win the J.S. Bach International competition in Germany. She’s racked up several prizes since, released a number of well-received albums and performed with most of the world’s major orchestras. The finale features Beethoven’s ground-breaking Symphony No. 3, known for its wide range of emotion, from its famed funeral march to its lively scherzo.
